The 4th of July | NYC

Today, the United States turned 239 years old, so I would like to wish all of my American readers a very happy 4th of July! Yesterday, I arrived in New York City and today I ran around finding materials I need for a summer workshop I’m taking at FIT, watched the Copa America final, and drank exorbitant amounts of tea. Even though I’m not American (I’m from Argentina!), I still took this day as an opportunity to bring out the red, white, and blue.

A simple, yet creative way to dress for the 4th of July is the kind of look I was trying to achieve so I incorporated the colors of the American flag, which kept the outfit relevant but not literal. A pair of simple, white, denim shorts is one of my summer wardrobe staples due to its versatility and the ease with which you can wear them. Here they were perfect when paired with an off the shoulder top which added the stripes and some of the blue present in the American flag. Since I don’t have many red clothing items, I decided to just add a pop of the color using this blazer, which I have been loving lately! It has a flattering cut, great length, and for something from Zara the quality is great!

I hope all of you Americans had an incredible time celebrating the independence of your nation, and to the rest of us, we’ll just have to wait until each of our countries day comes up. Just for fun, leave a comment saying where YOU are from!

XOXO, Sofia
