Styling dresses in winter #FFAWDressUp

When autumn rolls in, there’s something that some women sacrifice, their style. But fall and winter aren’t opportunities to dress casually, they’re an invitation to elevate your style. To layer and accessorize while maintaining that fashionable essence. So why give up wearing dresses when you can reuse your summer staple by adding a few simple touches. Farfetch, an online retailer specializing in high-end pieces invited me to style one of their designer dresses in a way that would be appropriate for fall and winter. I used other pieces from their site to style an outfit around a beautiful dress from Isabel Marant.

Simple and sophisticated describes this dress perfectly. It’s a versatile piece, meaning it could be worn essentially whenever or wherever. Dressed up it could make a great evening look, and dressed down it can be a beautiful day piece.

This nude jacket caught my eyes while I was scrolling through farfetch. Not only would it be a key layering piece in this look, but it also adds some color and femininity to this outfit. It has a stunning silhouette which would also compliment the dress’ fit and flare shape.

I’ve often confessed my addiction with hats, so it should come as no surprise that when I had to create an autumnal look I obviously chose a hat to accessorize. This two-toned one from Lanvin is incredibly stylish, and great for pairing with flowy dresses to create that feminine look with a bohemian twist.

I’ve been seeing these veiled beanies so much lately, and I have to say, I absolutely love them! They give off that cool, laid-down vibe, but they’re also very chic. I could  definitely see myself wearing one as part of a sporty look, and to give an edge to a more dressy outfit. And an added bonus with hats? They keep your head, and the rest of your body warm and they’re a quintessential fall/winter piece.

Silver hardware is really in this season, and this belt from Saint Laurent certainly proves it. I would wear it cinched around the waist of the dress to make the shape stand out more, just like in the image above.

A scarf, a winter staple. This is another key layering piece, especially if, like me, you live somewhere extremely cold!

Let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want this bag? It’s excellently crafted, looks incredible, and it’s Chloé. So many fashion bloggers have been rocking this bag in different colors and textures, and in each of their posts, this bag has managed to make a quiet statement while impeccably matching the rest of the look.

One of the BIGGEST shoe trends for fall/winter 2015 is over the knee boots. This suede pair from Giuseppe Zanotti are perfect for colder days and for every look you have in mind, from hippie chic to city sleek. They even add some of that 70’s flair which has been dominating these past few seasons. If you’re going to invest in a quality pair of boots for this season, a pair like this is the way to go!

I really hope you enjoyed this post! It’s slightly different from what I usually write, but this was an opportunity I just couldn’t pass up! Have an incredible week, and remember to stay chic!

XOXO, Sofia
