South of France Dreaming // Life update

It’s crazy to think that just a couple of days ago I was saying hello to 2018 alongside the rest of you. The month of January seems to be flying by and the year shows no sign of slowing down. I’ve been so busy these past few weeks, but haven’t stopped thinking about all the content that I want to share with you! I hope that once January is over I’ll be able to post more, especially as the days (and weather!) get more photo friendly 🙂

So, it’s time for a little life update…

FAMILY <3

If you follow me on IG you might have seen that I spent the holiday season in Buenos Aires. Going home is always kind of nostalgic for me. Something you might not know about me is that I was actually born in Argentina, which is where all of my family’s from. However, I never really had the experience of ‘living’ there as I left when I was two years old. Being away for so long hasn’t been easy. Things are always changing, and living so far away means that I’ve had to miss many beautiful, sad, and meaningful moments with my family. So going home is always a bittersweet time. This year, I got to spend so much quality time with my abuela (grandma) which really made my trip amazing.

SCHOOL

Going back to school was kind of like ripping off a band aid: painful, nerve-wracking and quick. After two weeks away from school and all its responsibilities, I felt like I was on a cloud. Upon returning to school I promptly fell off that cloud and landed on my head (it’s a metaphor, you get it). Thankfully, this week I’ll be able to get some things off my back and next week I’ll be in The Hague!! Managing school, blogging, extracurriculars and life in general is not easy, but at the end of the day I know it makes me stronger and more resilient. I’ve been reading Sheryl Sandberg’s ‘Lean In’ and one of the things she talks about is the myth of doing it all. Myth? Yes! It’s truly not possible to do it all, so every day I choose to focus on something different to be able to do it well. Today, it was blogging and instagram!

And one of the things that I am most excited about is my next trip!! I’ll be exploring Istanbul in February for the first time ever and I honestly can’t wait!! If you have any tips for places to visit or restaurants to try, leave them in the comments below!

I hope all of you are having an amazing week! I know the first days of January as we struggle to achieve New Year’s resolutions/everything we didn’t do last year (guilty!). If that’s the case for you, just focus on the things that make you happy! You’ll see how much things change when you look at the big picture. Anyway, stay strong loves. The weekend is only two days away!!

XOXO, Sofia
