Dear observer,

I’ve been alive for fifteen years. That time has instructed me in the ways of others, and my own. Those years have taught me that prejudice and judgement are created by those who refuse to conform with who they are. The misconceptions they create are what tear people down, disassembling pieces of a heart and mind. Those misconceptions are the ones with the potential to break you.

My time on earth has taught me that you judge a book by its cover, no matter how open-minded you claim to be. You make a judgement on that book and are taught to retain it. In front of that book, you paint a false picture. Behind it, you utter the bitter, malicious words that you have been instructed to maintain a secret.

At this moment, you’re most likely forming some misconception about who I am. Whatever it is, I can assure you I’ve heard it before

short   smartass   anti-social   ugly   pretentious   overdressed   unpopular   superficial   vain

time and time again. I’ve been judged for every component that makes me who I am. My height, weight, face, attitude, personality, and taste have all been objects of criticism. Scars from past battles have been opened, and wounds left unhealed. Tears left to dry slowly in desperate solitude, while piercing weapons lurk at every corner, threatening a fragile heart. Every turn bringing a new blow, reopening every wound and taunting what is left of an innocent spirit. But one day, I’ll stitch it all back together.

Yours truly,

That girl with a blog

I hope you’ve all enjoyed this different kind of post! This was something extremely personal that I struggled when writing about, but it was something that I simply could not avoid doing. I’ve always been a very honest person, and I rarely keep the thoughts that flutter through my mind to myself, so I thought the perfect way to express these thoughts that have plagued me as I transition to adulthood was by saving them onto what has become my public diary. That’s all I have to say for today, but if you want to keep up with my day to day life, make sure to follow me on Instagram! May the rest of your day be filled with peace, love, and light.

XOXO, Sofia

Thank you so much, Rae! I hear that a lot, but I don’t really think of myself that way!

I’d like to add to the list of words: Smart, caring, compassionate, excellent writer, brave, wise, interesting, quirky, beautiful on the inside and out…

Thanks for sharing that personal aspect; everyone goes through the same thing but not talking about it is making the issue some sort of taboo! It’s totally okay and normal to be insecure, but let me tell you you’re gorgeous! Love the mirror sunnies and that lace tank!
