Monday Musings #1 Self-Discovery

Mondays for most (myself included) are dreadful days since they involve going back to work/university/school. The weekend is a time to relax, enjoy the outdoors, or in my case watch too many episodes of Netflix and cuddle with my dog. But I started thinking, what if we could associate Mondays with more positive thoughts. And so the idea for this series was created! Every Monday I want to share with you some of the deeper thoughts that go through my head, so you can all get to know me better and I can hopefully help you if you’re in a similar situation. I would love for the comment section to be an area of positive thoughts and encouragement for others, but also for any of you to share your opinions on the subject! And without further ado, I’d like to introduce this Monday’s topic which is self-discovery.

Firstly I would like to share a quote with you that I think ties in really well with self-discovery. The quote reads: “Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere, and sometimes in the middle of nowhere you find yourself.” This quote really resonates with me since I’m at an age where I’m really discovering who I am, and what kind of person I want to be. But self-discovery doesn’t only take place in your teens. Many adults don’t really know who they are because they were never given the opportunity to express themselves, or develop an opinion.

For me, the best way to discover who you are is to write. You learn a lot about yourself by writing your thoughts and later reading them. A great way to do this is to keep a diary or a journal. Stuck for inspiration? The possibilities are endless! Just write about what you love. I love fashion, so I enjoy writing about what I wear and my style. If you love cooking then maybe keep a food diary where you can include your recipes. And if you’re just not sure about what you love, then write about your day or your feelings. This blog is my virtual journal. When I look back at posts I can see what I wore, the places I visited, but mostly I can see my growth as a writer and a person.

The quote is a great example of how you can discover yourself while in different situations. Traveling is one of the most rewarding things in this sense. I know it has certainly helped me grow and develop a passion for exploring, and learning about different cultures! I hope you liked this post, and if you have any ideas for next week feel free to leave them in the comment section!

XOXO, Sofia

Thank you so much Leyla!! I had a look on your blog, and what you’re doing is honestly incredible!! So many people struggling with health issues will be happy that someone is writing content directed ‘towards’ them, and that could help them. Personally, I just loved reading your first post, and thought that your writing included a lot of voice, humor, and personality. I look forward to reading ALL of your posts in the near future, so I had to follow your blog!

I’ve never been a fan of Mondays – and this one has been no exception. But the idea of associating Mondays with more positive thoughts is a really clever one, I’m definitely going to give it a try!
