The arrival of each new day poses the opportunity for a new adventure to commence. Since I can recall, all I have wanted to do was work in fashion. What started as a dream has become my passion, what I yearn to do, what consumes a lot of my thoughts. As my fifteenth birthday draws near, I know the path I want to chase and am getting closer to following it each day. This summer I came to New York City to keep working on that path, to learn more, to experience and to meet people who share the same passion as me, fashion. For three weeks, I’m taking fashion merchandising and photography courses at FIT. Today was the first day, and I’m excited to see what awaits.
I was slightly nervous about what I was going to wear since I knew I would be surrounded by people who know about fashion and who are up to date with the latest trends. In face of this all I could do was create an outfit that reflected my personality and that was still fashion-forward. The standout piece of the look, the ‘piece de resistance’ if you wish, were these flowy, burnt orange shorts. This shade was really popular during the fall, and I definitely see it making a comeback for this summer and fall. It’s a nice alternative to the dull colors we see in the season such as grey, blacks, and browns but is also fresher than some other shades such as burgundy, camel, and army green. I paired these shorts with a white crop top, and a simple black blazer, both basic items which let the bottom portion of the look make a statement. My black and gold sandals from Zara elevated the look, and were the perfect pair of shoes for a long day. And finally, to add some shine I wore some rose gold rings which I purchased yesterday from & other stories, one of my absolute favorite stores!
